COMMERCIAL LINES - ACCOUNT MANAGER

Objective: To create an atmosphere of security and trust for our Commercial Lines Clients. To develop this relationship by responding quickly and efficiently to their needs. To become a proactive part of retaining the business we have in force, and to actively seek additional coverage’s and policies.

 

Reports to: Commercial Lines Manager

 

Three years of experience in the Insurance Industry (preferably Commercial Lines) and Property Casualty Brokers License.

 

Work Hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday

(One hour lunch)

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In compliance with underwriting guidelines and agency procedure.

 

I. IN FORCE AND NEW BUSINESS SERVICE:

This will include (but is not limited to):

  • Assists clients with making coverage changes in an automated environment, determines appropriate billing plan and invoice accordingly.

  • Inform and counsel client on the payment plan they have chosen, provide justification if requested.

  • Follow agency procedure when billing and collecting premiums, pursuing prompt payment from clients.

  • Requests cancellation from the carrier according to agency standards.

  • Uses each contact with the client as an opportunity to review the whole account, round it, and market.

  • Informs and educates clients about policy coverage, changes, exclusion and insurance coverage needs.

  • Informs producer when appropriate (regarding any situation that affects the client and/or the policy)

  • Produces binders, policies, endorsements, and other related items; verifies their accuracy.

  • Processes incoming mail requests, responding promptly and appropriately.

  • Input new business, renewals, and endorsements according to agency standards

  • Responds to carrier requests promptly and appropriately

  • Reviews audits of policies; verifies accuracy and facilitates corrections, as needed, between client and carrier.

  • Provides technical support to producer(s) to benefit our clients.

 

II. RETENTION AND RENEWAL SERVICE

  • Prepares summaries of insurance, schedules, and proposals as needed (for account review).

  • Handles renewal activities in coordination with the producers(s) and the marketing dept.

  • Contacts clients to gather any information necessary for the renewal.

  • Obtains loss runs; statements of values and any other information necessary to renew policies.

  • Roll (renew) policies on Sagitta that are not being marketed (as indicated in the Renewal Review meeting).

  • Verifies each renewal's accuracy; ensures that all renewals are produced, input renewal information into the system.

  • Attend Renewal Review Meeting (with other Account Managers, C/L Marketer, and Producers) once a month.

  • Maintains and updates the system.

  • Determines reasons for requests for cancellations (if received from the client); acts to save accounts; notifying the producer(s) as needed.

  • Process certificates of insurance on an "as needed" basis (as a backup to the employee who handles them full time).

  • Claims--centrex client to insurance company claim dept. if the company accepts "direct claims reporting", also, complete LOSS screen on Sagitta.

  • Claims--notify (by e-mail) agency Claim Representative IF the insurance company does not accept direct claims reporting. Counsel client so that they are aware of who will handle the claim, and that they will be called back promptly by the Claim Rep.

  • Process claims on as "as needed" basis

 

III. PERSONAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Sets priorities and manages workflow to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities.

  • Maintains a cordial and effective relationship with clients, producers, co-workers, carriers, and other business contacts.

  • Review diary and suspense items on a daily basis, handle items as needed.

  • Conversations and correspondence received from clients, carriers, and producers must be documented according to agency standards.

  • Keeps informed regarding industry information, new product information, legislation, coverage’s and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance.

  • Communicates to management if assistance is needed with client, producer, and/or workflow.

  • Attend job related seminars and workshops

  • Interacts with others effectively using good communication skills, cooperating purposefully, and providing information and guidance, as needed, to achieve the goals of the agency

  • Provide "Work Status" to management on a weekly basis.

  • Maintain updated list of Insurance Carriers, including phone numbers, company codes, and contact names.

 

IV. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Maintain and continue to build on working knowledge of agency management system, Sagitta.

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with others to explain complex issues, receive and interpret complex information, and respond appropriately

  • Ability to understand written and oral communication, and interpret abstract information

  • Adequate knowledge of rating procedures, coverage’s, and industry operations to effectively service clients.

  • Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables

SUMMARY

The Commercial Lines Account Executive performs the essential functions of the position, which include providing technical expertise in coordinating the inside servicing of clients through sales, account development and problem solving in accordance with the objectives and procedures of The Reagan Companies high standards.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Work as part of a team to promote the best client service possible

  • Assist Producer daily with client issue

  • Assist in the design of insurance programs for clients

  • Build and promote strong relationships with clients, advisors and insurance companies

  • Meet with clients on a regular basis with and without the Producer

  • Prepare proposals, application and other necessary documents in coordination with Producer; submits applications and renewals to eligible and appropriate carriers; follows up to ensure timely receipt of quotations and policies.

  • Prepares summaries of insurance, schedules and proposals as needed for account review. 

  • Remarkets renewals, contacts clients, creates renewal proposals and handles other renewal activities in coordination with the Producer.

  • Review quotations and policies following agency standards.  Verify each proposal is completed timely and accurately.

  • Verifies policy and policy changes information, facilitating corrections when necessary.

  • Prioritize work load and/or request for assistance as required

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education requirement:  college degree preferred or equivalent insurance experience

  • Professional designation is a plus. Willingness to continue education is essential.

  • Knowledge of computer systems and operations is desirable.

  • Good listening skills and attention to detail is important.

  • Knowledge of commercial insurance and products is essential

COMMERCIAL INSURANCE SALES (Risk Manager)

We are looking for a driven individual that is a self starter, with previous sales experience, well connected within the community and can meet annual sales goals.  This position requires a Property/Casualty license. If you have previous insurance experience and already have your license that would be great but we are willing to train and pay for the licensing for the right person.  The sales professional would need to feel comfortable selling to senior level executives and business owners.  This is in the B2B market, using a highly consultative sales approach.  You will be targeting Business Owners, CFO’s, CEO’s, and other high level executives.  If you can’t see yourself in a consultative selling environment, with a proposal presentation in the $100K-$1 million range this position is not for you.
